FAQ:

1.)What is a NetRing?

A NetRing is a community of pages with related content, organized into a circular ring. Each page in a ring has links which let visitors move to an adjacent site on the ring, summon a ring index, or hop to a random site. NetRings let web visitors quickly and reliably find sites with related subjects i.e fans of flickr.com.

Joining a Net Ring is great way to increase traffic to your site. And not just random hits -- hits from people actively seeking information about a topic that your site provides. Users like Net Rings because rings pull related sites together into easily explored groups. Net Rings create actively maintained virtual communities of pages on the web.

2.) What are the different ways visitors can arrive at my site through the ring system?

There are several ways visitors can arrive at your site:

  • Visitors following the Next links on any of rings containing your site will eventually arrive at your page.
  • Visitors may arrive at your site by hitting the Blogs that flickr link on any of the rings' members ringcode. This lists all the blogs in the ring and is searchable by key words.
  • Visitors will arrive directly at your site from the search engine at ringsurf.com. The search engine periodically indexes the contents of each ring page.

3.)Why do I have to put that ringcode on my site??

When you submit your site , the ringsurf system designates a special site ID number for you. By placing your ringcode on your site --- the system can recognize your site as an approved member. This allows anyone to use the links in your code to visit other blogs in the ring.

Most traffic in the ring is from those surfing from site to site --- having your blog listed on the member list is limiting the traffic potential.

4.) Why do I display All the links in my ringcode???

Each ring site has a ring control panel (your ringcode).

The four links allow visitors to navigate the ring:
Previous (<<) moves backward along the current ring, taking you to the previous site.
  • List (#) (Blogs That Flickr) summons a list of every site on the current ring.
  • Random(?) jumps to a site picked at random on the current ring.
  • Next (>>) moves forward along the current ring.

There are a few other links that you might also encounter on certain blogs that flickr ringcode:

  • Homepage takes you to the homepage of the current ring.

7.) I own more than one blog. Do I need to register them all??

Yes. You may submit multiple blogs. Each blog must be registered under a new site ID number . Otherwise the ringcode you put on a non-member blog will not be valid and other sites will not be directed to those blogs.

8.) What about porn ? Are adult themed websites allowed ??

NO! Sites displaying strictly pornographic images OR who's main sidebar links are to adult sites are prohibited. Due to the age range of members in this ring. We do not need sites which are offensive. There are other adult themed rings for this purpose!

Blogs the ring owner deems inappropriate for younger audiences will have their accounts deleted regardless if the ringcode is in place.
